Stress Balls as Self-Defense

Can Stress Ball Training Save You?

When the story in Haikou City, China broke this week about the woman in an altercation with a store owner that resulted in her squeezing his testicles so hard he died, the first thought that came to my mind was, stress balls. Allegedly this woman did not need the  squeeze for self-defense as she had her brother and her husband to protect her, but she did open the door for thinking about squeezing to save your life.

Could stress balls be a method of self-defense? Is it possible that all that squeezing you have done on stress balls to release stress at the office, has worked two-fold to train your hands to be weapons of a mass testicular squeeze?

When testicles are hit or squeezed the pain that ensues from the excessive force to the testicles moves to the lower abdomen and forces a man to hit the ground and to bend his knees to fight the pain. His body also has its own internal system that releases a humongous amount of adrenalin into his system to combat the pain. Adrenalin is a hormone that increases heart rate, pulse rate, and blood pressure, which is why prolonged and heightened levels of the hormone can cause heart failure.

Squeezing balls as a method of self-defense should be seen as an equal opportunity; both men and women can use it on a male aggressor. It would probably be a fair assumption that men would be more squeamish to take advantage of this method.

Abusive husbands are probably banning stress balls from their homes at this moment. If you get into a situation and this is your only alternative all I can say is, grab from behind if at all possible.
